2nd Birthday Card

I made this card for my niece, who is about to turn 2 and LOVES Minnie Mouse. I wanted the card to have the feel of Minnie without actually having her on it.

I started by using my Silhouette Cameo to cut a large 2 from red card stock, and an offset from yellow. I then used a versamark marker to draw circles all over the red 2 and heat embossed them with white embossing powder. I heat embossed the sentiment on black card stock using some letter stamps, and added a small red heart left over from a border punch. I adhered the red 2 to the yellow offset with some foam squares to give it some dimension.

I added the stamped word to the inside of the card using some Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

Presents Birthday Card

I made this birthday card for my dad. I started by stamping an outline of a present three times, and coloring it with various sharpies. I then used my Silhouette and Pix-Scan mat to cut out the stamped images. I heat embossed the sentiment on some patterned paper and adhered the layers together. I finished it off with a simple twine bow.

Flowery Birthday Card

I created this birthday card for my sister-in-law. I started by stamping flowers, vines, and leaves all over a piece of light purple card stock. I then stitched some vellum over the top and added a heat embossed sentiment to the bottom. I mounted the whole thing on a piece of dark purple card stock and added it to a white card base.

Wavy Birthday Card

I have a lot of friends and family with birthdays in April, so I am sharing another birthday card. For this card, I started by designing a cut file in Silhouette Studio - a rectangle cut into different wavy sections. I added a faux stitched line to the inside of each section. I then cut out the shapes in 7 different colors of card stock and assembled them onto a white card base.

For the sentiment I used a happy birthday saying from the Silhouette Online Store. I cut it out three times and glued them together to make the words stand out. I finished the card off by adding some cute circle embellishments.

Tie-Dyed Masculine Birthday Card

I created this card for my brother-in-law, who is in the military. First I crumpled up some white card stock and used distress ink in Forest Moss along the raised parts to make the tie-dyed look. Then I used a blending tool to add distress ink in Mowed Lawn all over the card. I used the blending tool to add distress ink in Walnut Stain to the edges. I framed the piece with some brown card stock, and used the same card stock to add a simple heat embossed sentiment.

This was one of my first attempts to use distress ink, and I am really happy with the result.

Blue Happy Birthday Card

I created this card for my aunt's birthday. I cut out the squares using my craft cutter, then stamped the square images on top. I then heat embossed the greeting with white embossing powder, adhered the squares at an angle, and added the rhinestones. All of the cardstock is from Stampin' Up, I believe, except the white, which is just plain cardstock from the office supply store. The square stamps are from two different Inkadinkado stamp sets.

Feminine Birthday Card

Today I sat down to create a soft and feminine birthday card. I knew I wanted to use some flower stamps that I have, so I just went from there. The flowers come from the Stampin' Up! retired Vintage Vogue set. This card ended up being just the right balance of colorful and shabby chic. The sentiment is embossed with white embossing powder to make it stand out a bit. I really like the addition of the button on the large flower and the gems on the smaller ones - the card felt kind of bare before I added those. Both the gems and twine come from Target.
